Family Vacation

We did not have too much planned this summer.  So, we scheduled a quick vacation (just 3 nights!) to central Oregon.  Little did we know this would fall directly after our trips to China and L.A.  But, we had reservations, and some fun plans, so we decided to go for it even though we were starting the trip only 48 hours after returning home.  Here are some highlights!

Our first night camping at Mt. Hood.  About 3 miles from Government Camp.  Such a pretty, quiet campground.  That is until we got there. . .

The second night we drove to the Kahneetah Resort where we rented a TeePee.  Our friends the Fillmores also rented a TeePee and we had a great time in the pool, and camping in our TeePee's.  It was so hot there was not much to do but swim, but luckily they had an awesome pool!
The kids were SO tired from the short night before (a single night camping with a toddler is always short!) that they slept in until 8:30 the next morning.  This has got to be a Wilde family record.  So nice!  We were even all up and about and Heidi slept on and on. . .

Here are the TeePee's in the background. . .

After that we headed back to Government Camp to go for a long, slow drive.  The girls needed some sleep.  We took a drive up to Flox hut at timberline lodge and checked out the spot where Dad likes to go camping with the boy scouts.  I can see why, it was beautiful!

Next we rode the alpine slide, just once.  It was so fun!  Emilee rode her first lift and clung to my arm for life.  Chandler was much more conservative with his sliding than I was expecting.  We had a nice, slow ride down.  :)

After the alpine slide we ate at the Huckleberry Inn, which was fabulous.
And, we bought a doughnut for our breakfast the next morning.  This doughnut fed all seven of us!  Definitely found the best doughnuts around.  SO GOOD!

The next day we found ourselves in Maupin, OR in a tiny little cabin with two double beds.  We took turns rafting the river and hanging out in our tiny cabin.  It was a HOT day but so beautiful!  We had a great time.  Here are some fun photos from the trip.

What a fun little vacation!  I'm so glad we made the effort even though we waffled for a bit.  It was so much fun!
