There's nothing like a good hot breakfast to start the day

Poor Chandler!  He learned a sad lesson yesterday when he pulled his malt-o-meal meal out of the microwave and onto his arm.  Sad!  We had a huge mess and a burned boy.  Lucky for him not too terrible, no blisters.  I kept him home a couple of hours until the pain was well under control and then we bandaged him up and sent him off to school.

Here he is 36 hours later.  Still tender but feeling tons better.  I am so thankful this wasn't worse than it was!

Kid Quote of the Week

Yesterday, upon returning from church, Chandler said, "Sometimes I see a beautiful couple, you know, like a beautiful woman and a handsome man, and I think "I'm glad my parents aren't like that."

I have not asked him yet for adjectives to describe Gordon and I.  I'll probably save that for the future.   I'm glad we don't overwhelm him with our beauty, that would be the worst!

Chores and Games

Nothing helps my little ones (and big ones) play nicely together faster than doing chores.  I call it chore avoidance.  They know I think that if they are playing so sweetly together I won't have the heart to stop them!  Sometimes when we mop, the little ones "help" by moving the chairs around for me.  This usually ends in a game of train. This train made use of the vacuum hose as an intercom between the engineer and the passengers.  I love imagination games!  It reminds me of being a kid and playing "raft" for hours.  Such a fun time of life!

Last First Day of Preschool

Miss Heidi went to her first day of Pre-School today!  She is just attending once a week at Noah's Place, and then has her speech group once a week through Clackamas County, and then Private speech once a week with Pam.  She is a busy little miss!  She was so excited to go but was very apprehensive once she figured out I was leaving.  The teacher tells me she cried for about thirty seconds and then moved on and had a great day.  She says it was fun but it not sure if she's ready to go back.  I'm betting that by next Wednesday she'll be ready to head out again.  Great job on your first day little lady!

Gnome home

We have a little gnome home in the front yard. He changes his decor seasonally, and sometimes gets to work on other projects. Upon coming home from soccer today I discovered that he had planted a garden complete with signs labeling the rows that were mounded up. He also was working to spread bark dust in the wheelbarrow and had moved his bench to the top of the hill. Is pathway seemed a little straighter is well so he must've been out working all morning.  What a busy little gnome!

And They're Off!

It has been such a nice summer.  And we are sad to kiss it goodbye.  But there is something so exciting about saying hello to a new school year and all that it brings!  And that's what we've been doing for the past two days.  Here are the necessary back to school photos of the kids.  8th, 6th, 3rd, and 1st!  Everybody in full day school this year.  Crazy!

This girl and her hair.  I tell ya.  It's so pretty right now all summer kissed.

When everybody hopped on the bus and it drove away, Heidi looked up at me and said, "My buddies!  The Bus!"  And I thought, "yep.  That bus just keeps coming and coming."  So, we went inside and got started right away on the back to school cake.  Because that's what you do when they go back to school.  We had a great time!
And, it was appreciated by all later that evening.  Everyone had a great first day.   We are hoping for a fabulous year!
