Hamburger is BORN!!!

Chandler's Kindergarten class has been incubating chicken eggs and studying them for the past few weeks.  This week, the main event started and the first chick, the cleverly named "Hamburger" was hatched!  Because they started hatching right before the weekend, the sweet kinder teachers set up visiting times for Saturday and Sunday so we could go in and see the progress.  When we got there Saturday three chicks were running around in the incubator and several more had holes and cracks.

Chandler has really enjoyed this little experiment and can hardly wait to get back to school Monday to see how many chicks are in there!  We've heard that Jason and Lightning are also hatched so that's pretty exciting!

 Well Hello, Hamburger!
Here is the video sent out of hatching Hamburger.  The kids got to see him coming out!  As you can hear, they were pretty excited!  I love all the motherly Ooo's and Ahh's from the little ones!

Sickie Chickie

This week has not been terribly exciting or productive, mostly because Emilee has been a little sick chick!  She started out Wednesday with a fever around 104.5 and we checked in with the doctor who said just watch closely, plenty of fluids, etc.  There are some pretty nasty bugs going on out there.  When the fever climbed to 106 Thursday evening we called back to check in again and they said we should head straight to the ER to make sure she didn't have something treatable, like Pneumonia or a UTI.  Luckily, she does not have either of those things, which means we just get to ride this out.

Here she is on Wednesday:
 Saturday:  still pretty sick
 and today, Sunday!
As you can see she is feeling lots better and even ate some breakfast this morning and a bath.  Poor little thing!  I'm so glad I feel like we are on the tail end of this now and while she is still sick and has a lower fever, she's much more comfortable now.  I'm ready for summer time and less of this!!!

a Sunday Stroll

The weather has been glorious this weekend!  Sunny skies make for happy Oregonians and we took full advantage of this by taking some little outings each evening.  This evening we went over to the Temple grounds and walked around and then explored the new visitors center.  Living only 4 minutes from the temple is pretty sweet.
This is my favorite picture I snapped.  It shows her personality so well!!!

Okay, maybe these  are my favorites!  This is the Heidi smile we see all day long.  She is a love bug.

Look at these Rhodi's!  They were easily 12 inches across, the flowers were gargantuan!
What a sweet way to spend a Sunday afternoon!

my girls

This past week I've snapped a few pictures of me and my girls (or had Ethan snap a few!)  They have both been very cuddly and lots of fun!

bath time

This week was almost completely devoid of picture taking, which is a nice thing because it means we had a quieter week!  Here are the two snapshots of the week that must be shared. . .  Have a great week!

the Egg Hunt!

Preparations for the annual egg hunt commenced Saturday morning as we gathered at the park to set up.  The cupcakes were really in abundance this year, I think we counted about 175 of the full size, and at least 100 minis.  They were enjoyed by all.

We played a little bunny sack race game to get things started as the kids were gathering.  It was the perfect gathering activity, and I was thankful that Trudie, our faithful Primary President put it together, complete with carrot necklaces to be munched after their hop.

I finally bought my own bull horn this year and put it to good use rounding up the kids before releasing them into the forest.  Oh, the anticipation!

Someone whispered in my ear right before I released them that there were two kids in the woods that had stollen ALL THE EGGS!  Luckily, they only got about 200, out of close to 2000, so it wasn't a big deal.  But, gordon did hunt them down and strongly suggest they should share their bounty.  We were glad they CTR'd and went ahead and shared, even if reluctantly.  :)

We did the nests again with the kids names and they had a great time hunting.

Heidi wasn't sure it was the best activity ever, but that was mostly because she was SO TIRED!  Poor little baby got dragged around all morning and missed her nap.  Lucky for us she is the sweetest baby ever and didn't give us too much trouble.  We've made sure she gets lots of sleep today to make up for the craziness.
Well, that's it!  Another epic hunt, with the most lovely weather imaginable.  I couldn't believe it when the skies opened up to blue, blue, blue.  I'm glad there is a year before we'll do it all again, but I'm sure we will.  We love the hunt!  Hunts of years past are here:  2011  2010  2009 2008  2007

Happy Easter!

Happy Birthday Chandler!!!

Sweet RELIEF!!!  Birthday season is drawing to a close.  But before it did, Chandler had his special day this past Friday.  He turned six this year, which is a family party year.  He celebrated his special day with treats at school, where he "show and telled" his favorite pet, Heidi, and performed her baby tricks.  And then that night with a fun family dinner, cake, and presents.  He requested trick candles and while we got them, they didn't spark much.  He was still happy. . .
 What's in here?
Only the greatest thing ever!  A perplexes ball from Grandma and Grandpa Wilde.  If you would like your children (and husband) to be entertained for hours at time, you need one of these.  Way to knock it out of the park again, Grandma!
And this is my view since opening the ball. . .
Walkie Talkie's from G&G Price, also a huge hit!  They have been playing "spy" ever since, and really had a ball with these at the Easter egg hunt the next day.   More to come on that. . .
Happy Birthday Chandler!  I can hardly believe it was 6 years ago you were born all the way across the country.  You are our Mr. Sunshine and we love you!

Heidi's favorite spot!

Eggs, Eggs, everywhere Eggs!

We spent a good part of the last two weeks collecting eggs for our annual egg hunt.  We were collecting the bags in our bedroom and as they came rolling in Heidi loved to examine them and shake the eggs. She's going to miss them!

more HP fun

The boys having lots of fun with Aidan's video camera.  Here is a little movie they worked on over spring break, based on the tri wizard tournament in book 4. They had parts for all the kids!  It's too bad you can't see Fleur (Em) roll under the crib when she is swallowed by the maze.  It was so funny but the camera didn't adjust in time to the lighting.  You'll have to imagine that.  All music performed by the boys. . .

Welcome to Hogwarts!

Happy Birthday Aidan!  Aidan chose Harry Potter for his birthday party theme, and I couldn't have been happier about that.  It's nice to have something I could relate to rather than "transformers" or something along those lines.  :)  We started in the great hall with the sorting hat, of course!  The sorting hat spoke to each child, named it's house, and then they were robed in their uniform scarves.  We divided into Ravenclaw and Gryffindor.
The littlest first year. . .
Then we opened the delivery from Olivanders wand shop. . .
the wands chose their wizards, we lit them up and headed into Potions class with Professor Snoop, who is incidentally, Professor Snape's first cousin.
Here we are with the pensieve's, our first potion.  We did three in all. . .

Then it was downstairs to play quidditch.  The boys REALLY got into this and everyone had a great time!
Watch out for the bludgers thrown by mom and dad!  If you get hit you have to sit down and count to 20.
Well done Calvin!  You've got the golden snitch!
the game ended in a tie so we had a shoot out with the quaffle.  It all came down to Aidan, who scored . . .
 was tackled. . .
 and dog piled.
Do you think he enjoyed that?  There's nothing like being the hero.
We finished off the day with butter beer and quidditch ball cake.
 Happy Birthday Aidan!
