Sugar Cookies

You could say its been a long week around here. Between Chandler's RSV, the rest of us with colds, and now Aidan's ear infection, you could say we're feeling a bit cooped up these days. Today Ethan suggested we make cookies and I said that I wasn't sure if they should have too much dessert when they are sick. Aidan said "Mommy, Ice Cream is dessert, cookies are just for fun." So be it. We had a very nice time cutting out sugar cookies this afternoon, and the house smells very nice now! Chandler even managed to swipe a handfull of cookie dough off one of the sheets, and enjoyed his very first taste of cookie dough goodness. . .

Where do babies come from?

Today Aidan was looking at his scrapbook from when he was a baby. He saw the little footprints they took of him at the hospital and was asking me what they were.

A: Mom, where did these footprints come from?
Mom: Those are your footprints from when you were a brand new baby!
A: Oh, I remember. This is from when Jesus walked me down, right?

I knew it. . . the answer to "where do babies come from?" is a simple one. . . heaven!

Walkin' and Talkin'

Chandler is a walker! And apparently a talker! Although there is something screwy about this video, I dont know what the deal is with the sound!

Mt. Hood

All right, this one's for Grampy! This was actually in the works before your comment, by the way! I was waiting until I learned to do a video but that will have to wait. Here are Terry Price's very impressive grandchildren, just last month, having a wonderful time on Mt. Hood, and riding chair lifts for the first time! They were very brave and mommy was too, she even let Aidan ride a chair lift, something she was pretty sure was going to have to wait for next year. Grampy is a great teacher and helped the boys learn all about the fine art of downhill skiing last month when we visited mt. hood for 5 days of skiing bliss! I even let my snowboard have a rest for once and tried on ski boots again. It was hard work, and I must admit I missed the board a bit, but my feet didn't hurt and I didn't miss that. It was fun to ski again. And yes, Grampy, I'm sure Chandler could ride a chair lift if you held him. . . but I think he'll have to wait a couple of years. :) Mommy does have her limits.
fun fun! The boys are already asking when we can go back and ski again! Not to mention Betty's fun cabin, which they ask if we can visit daily. Although I'm not sure if it was the snow or the nintendo that they're looking for there. Either way, I hope we make a trip like this every year!
Okay, I think I'm ready for this. . . here are some videos of the boys!

The men in my life

Who do I love? Meet the guys. . .

I Love Chandler! I love Chandler's quick smile, and his mischievous eyes when he hears his name called! I love that he's almost sleeping all night now, and that he's never hesitant to take a nap if I need him to. Always trying to keep up with his brothers, and ready to tell us his opinion!

I love Aidan! He's always ready to play, full of bologna, and thinks he can conquer the world today! He's 3 going on 13 and his favorite line is "Mom, I already know that - I know everything!" Always the big tough guy, until it's time to be away from mom or even worse, Ethan. Then he's Mr. Timid. Always ready with an "I love you" or a hug, constantly sleep deprived, and "never tired."

I love Ethan! Cute as a button, smart, stubborn, and terribly sweet with a cute little giggle. Marches off to school like it's no big thing at all, but would rather stay home and play than do almost anything. Loves his best friend Aidan and plays constantly with him. Loves the baby so much and is always trying to entertain him. Loves his teachers and listens well at school and church - and then surprises us later with all the things he's picked up that we thought he'd ignored.

I love Gordon! Handsome, smart. . . what a hunk! Gordon is a patient listener, and is always ready to hear about all of my daily adventures with the kiddo's. He's always ready to take care of me, and is a wonderful father and provider. Hates having his picture taken, and will hate that I wrote he is a hunk. Loves life, learning, languages, and doesn't ever want to miss out on an opportunity to do something new. Always ready for an adventure, but willing to pass up an adventure here and there for me and the kids. What more could I ask for?

50th day!

Happy 50th day of Kindergarten! Ethan skipped happily off to school today to celebrate the fiftieth day! He had with him his collection of 50 buttons that we carefully counted out over the weekend. Apparently on the docket for the celebration was making fruit loop necklaces, and writing stories about what they would spend $50 on if they had $50. Ethan would buy lego's!
Normally the 100th day of kinder is the one celebrated, but because he's on the every other day schedule, there are not 100 days in the whole year! So, they celebrate 50. . . such fun!

In the works

Here are the quilt blocks I'm working on for Chandler's quickly approaching 1st birthday quilt. I thought I was all inspired and doing well, but now that I have half the airplanes done, I'm thinking I need twice as many. Typical me project. . . the good news is, I think they are darling!

the "happy" wheezer

Well, Chandler is recovering from RSV, which my doctor assured me is an illness that they used to refer to as the "happy Wheezers" because the babies would be wheezing, coughing and sick, but relatively happy. Well, that was true until today. Chandler has been so sad all day, unless we are holding and cuddling him. I'm hoping he's turned the corner now and we're well on our way to "on the mend." Here he is with his little inhaler. . .
See guys, you just stick it on like this and breathe. . .
In other Chandler news, he has suddenly learned to climb, much to my chagrin! He can be up on the kitchen table in about 10 seconds flat, the desk, my sewing machine, the boys bunk bed (bottom bunk), you name it! He's up there. Our last two days have been filled with "Chandler, No!" and whisking him off the "dangerous places" while he screams his protests. Really, he just wants to be up and doing what his brothers are doing, so I guess that's not such a bad thing!

The rest of us also have colds (Yes, all 5 of us are sick at once) and so we have spent the last two days cooped up in our little house. We are all ready to go nutso! Ethan is well enough to head to school tomorrow, and he is looking forward to that. I'm hoping that a good night's sleep will do everyone some good, especially Aidan, our perpetually tired 3 year old who refuses to nap! When he gets sick it gets all the worse. Last night Daddy was playing around with the boys and tossing them in the air a bit. After about 10 minutes of fun, he surprised Aidan with one last toss and it scared him a bit. Aidan proclaimed (screamed) "Daddy, I am not a ball!" and then crawled up into my lap and fell asleep in about 3 minutes. Poor kid, he's so tired! I too am tired, as no one gives mama's the day off when they get sick either. So, I'm off for some R&R. May tomorrow find us all healthier!!!

First Timer

There's a first time for everything I guess, and so here I go! I'm going to try to keep this blog as a way of keeping friends and family posted, as well as a type of journal for myself. I'm hoping that I will be able to use it as a way to remember every day how blessed my life really is, and to share that with you as well. As mommy to three rambuncious little one's, subject matter is easy to find, and I often wish I had a way to share more of our "funny moment's" with family and close friends. Perhaps this will be a way to do just that!
