a Hiking we will go

We took the kids over to Washington Park to go for a hike today.  It was a pretty fun trip.  We stopped by the Vietnam war memorial and that was a nice activity for Memorial day and it was all decked out in flags.

Here are my goofball kiddos.

 We climbed trees.

Gordon and I haven't been hiking in Washington Park for 10 YEARS!  We were laughing about how 10 years ago, in May just like this year, we took a 10 month old Ethan for a hike through the park.  Hopefully it won't take us 10 years to get back.  Here are some fun pictures to hike down memory lane by. . .

Was Ethan a cutie pie or what?  Look at that mug!
We parked in the exact same spot we did 10 years ago.  It was so fun!

a surge of creative energy

I don't know what came over me this week, but I suddenly had the urge to make something.  I haven't sewed anything since last February, so this rather fun!  I had some cute fabric and pattern inspiration acquired from pinterest, and off I went!  Emilee got a little sundress and Heidi matching rompers.
Here they are modeling their new duds on the little chair I painted last month.  This was my first experience with oil based paints and I'd say it's pretty incredible stuff!

Do you know who was the most excited about these new clothes for the girls?  CHANDLER!  He couldn't wait to put them on and take pictures.  Above, he is staging the photo shoot.  It was so sweet.  He took this picture below. . .
And here is the other Craigslist chair that I picked up the same day I bought the one above.  I just loved it's curvy lines and brought it home and made cushions for it.  The cushions turned out a little smaller than I was planning (still trying to figure out my mistake) but I think it's a darling chair nonetheless.  Does anyone else sense that I'm a little stuck on one color?
So there you have it, a few little things I've been working on. . .

My sweet baby

Here is a little photo history of Heidi's past month.

The only thing great about having to go in and wake up a sleeping baby from her nap is it is a great photo op!  Isn't she sweet?

Heidi has such a sweet smile!

Being #5 is pretty sweet!  Daddy will feed you leftover pie!

Playing the mini recorder.  So cute!  Toot toot toot!
Oh, mom's got the camera!  I'm going to go get her!
There she is!  9 1/2 months old.  She is still the sweetest little thing around and we adore her!

Fathers and Sons

The boys have been away for Father's and Son's campout!  This is something everyone looks forward to every year.  It was out on the Oregon coast on a chilly windy night, but they had a wonderful time!

Here are some pictures I got in my inbox in the morning.  They slept in a little yert!

They spent the next day exploring a giant sand dune.  They all really liked this activity and had a great time jumping up and down on the dunes.  There might have been some sand in the eyes and other unpleasantness, but overall I'd say they had a great time!
They visited tidal pools. . .
After a quick trip to Tillamook for an ice cream and some lunch, they headed home.  Chandler zonked out in this award winning uncomfortable position. . .
Let's just take a moment to take a closer look at this.

Doesn't your neck hurt just looking at this?  Poor kid was SO TIRED!!!
Here is a little sand dune video. . .
The other great part of the fathers and sons camp out, is the girl party that happens at home!  We met some friends at the park, had a ladies only dinner from CPK with buddies, painted our toenails, bubble baths, gelato, and a slumber party in mommy's bed.  WE LOVE FATHERS AND SONS!!!
And now I can hardly wait for the daddy daughter campout!  I wonder what that will bring!

Spring Recital

Emilee's little ballet class had their spring recital this past Friday evening.  The highlight of the event for the girls was probably dressing up in their pretty tutu's and being the "rainbow fairies."  She loved every minute of it!  I will include the video at the end.  If you're not a grandma, it's pretty long!

Here is her whole class of little fairies.

Famous!

Chandler says, "we are famous!"  We were at the pediatrician today for Heidi's check up while a local news team was doing a story on vaccinations.  They came in to do a little interview and the kids really enjoyed watching themselves this evening.  It was an adventure!

Cinco de Mayo

Ole'!

Since Chandler attends Spanish immersion kindergarten, they made a pretty big deal out of the 5th!  Heidi enjoyed the hat after he got home!

Here a chick. . . there a chick . . .

Emilee was too sick over last weekend to go to see the new chicks with Chandler, so we arranged to go in one day after school last week and meet the little fuzzballs.  They were very cute and noisy.
