2nd Place!

Today marked the end of baseball season!  Ethan has had some high moments and some low moments around baseball, and I'm not sure he's ready to sign up for next year, yet.  Only time will tell.  But, his little team, which was 0 and 9 just about 4 weeks ago, went on to make it from the last seed in the tourney, all the way to the league championships!  It was crazy!  They had quite a run and really started pulling together.  Unfortunately for us, the championship game fell on Sunday, and as a family we have decided we would not play sports on Sunday.  But, we did think it would be very appropriate to show up at the end of the game for the final award ceremony.  It was a nail biter to the end and these boys took second.  The score was 1-0.

Here is Ethan accepting his trophy, in his church clothes and ball cap.  There were two other boys from our ward who also skipped this game (on the other team) - you can see them there on the end.  The coaches were supportive of their decision and remarked when giving them their awards that they were the best dressed guys on the field.

Great job Lakeside Lumber!  We sure enjoyed watching you play this season!

Love it! What a good boy - that is a hard thing to do at that age.

I was very impressed with this league and the boys in it. In the first picture, besides Ethan in his Sunday clothes, you also see #1 consoling #7. #7 struck out to end the game with the tying run on 3rd. Never mind that #7 is one of the best hitters on our team and has high expectations for himself, this happens in baseball, and every time one of the boys got down because they didn't make the best play they could have, one or more of the other boys was there to pick 'em up and encourage them to make the next play. Great teammates!
